My Story

Rachel has worked in the fitness industry and community education for more than 20 years, shaped by her early training in dance and a lifelong love of movement. She first discovered Pilates at the Laban Centre while rehabilitating an injury, and quickly realised how powerful the method could be. The strength, control and ease she felt after classes inspired her to retrain, and she has been teaching Pilates ever since.

Her STOTT Pilates training has played a central role in her own recovery from injuries and in building the strength needed for performance and long hours of training. She is fascinated by the small details that influence how the body moves - the subtle restrictions, patterns and habits that can limit ease or create imbalance. This curiosity, combined with years of hands‑on experience, makes her an attentive and insightful teacher who supports clients in achieving meaningful progress.

Rachel specialises in reformer Pilates, valuing its ability to strengthen the whole body with precision and control. She also enjoys developing clients’ technique on the Chair and Cadillac, helping them move in new ways with confidence and clarity. Her teaching style is inclusive and adaptable; she uses different methods to explain exercises so that every client, regardless of experience, can succeed.

More recently, Rachel completed the STOTT Injuries and Special Populations qualification, enabling her to work with a broad spectrum of clients with complex needs. She has experience supporting people with Parkinson’s, stroke rehabilitation, joint replacements and a range of spinal conditions including scoliosis, herniated discs and Ankylosing Spondylitis. She has seen first‑hand how Pilates can help manage pain, improve mobility and restore confidence in movement.

Rachel loves teaching at Barefoot Flow because of the studio’s curious, engaged community and the variety of classes that keep clients progressing and strong. She particularly enjoys using the Reformer and Cadillac to help clients develop the balance and strength needed for teasers - a movement she finds both challenging and rewarding to teach.

In every class, Rachel offers clear options so beginners feel supported and more experienced movers stay challenged. Her aim is simple: to help people move well, feel capable and enjoy discovering what their bodies can do.
