Mat Classes
Mat classes are the simplest form of Pilates; there's no need for any equipment other than a mat. Mat pilates was originally a specific set of body weight exercises, which has evolved little since it was first laid out in the early twentieth century. Although the exercises remain almost the same, with our deepening understanding of how bodies work, as well as the changing effects of our daily, digital, lives it is sometimes beneficial to slightly adapt the exercises to ensure we are still getting all the benefits of the method. This is the style of Pilates we teach at Barefoot Flow - Contemporary Pilates with Classical leanings - so you may see dynabands, mini balls, sliders (amongst others!) being incorporated into your mat classes.
Please see below for an explanation of the different mat group class types that are available to book via this website. If you see a class type that you would like to join, but is not on the website, please contact us and we will endeavour to provide the class you want.
