Booking A Class

Group class bookings are made via Gymcatch, which can be accessed here.

To book a class you will need to create an account.  Once you have an account you will be able to manage all your bookings either via the Gymcatch webpage or via a downloadable app.

Please note booking for a class closes 30 minutes before the class starts.

Cancelling a Booking

To cancel a booking please do so via your Gymcatch account.  Please note, there is a 12 hour cancellation policy in place; if you cancel within 12 hours of the class starting we reserve the right to charge you the full class fee.

Please ensure that if you can't attend a class you do cancel your place as this will free up a space for someone else.

Waitlisted Classes

If a class is fully subscribed, you are able to join a waitlist.  In the event that someone cancels their booking, everyone on the waitlist will be notified and will have 30 minutes to claim that space, after which time it will be made available for general booking.

Space notifications are sent either via email or via the Gymcatch app - please go to settings in your Gymcatch app profile to select your notification preference.

What Should I Wear?

It's best to wear something comfortable and stretchy to take part in a class. We recommend layers to keep you at a comfortable temperature. Most clients wear socks (please note, trainers/shoes are not permitted in the studio). Please avoid wearing dangling jewellery (earrings, necklaces, bracelets).

Is Pilates Suitable for Me

Pilates is suitable for all ages and abilities. There are certain groups who may need to seek specialist classes (e.g. those under the age of 15 years) but everyone can benefit.

How Often Should I Take a Class?

The answer depends on your goals, experience, personal schedule and resources. Fortunately, Pilates is a versatile effective practice that can be tailored to suit any liefstyle or fitness and well-being objective. Taking classes 2 - 3 times per week is generally recommended, however just once a week can make a significant different to your health and wellbeing.

I'm Pregnant, Are Your Classes Suitable for Me?

What Is A Reformer

What Are Mat Pilates Classes

Keeping fit and active during pregnancy will help you to cope with the changes to and demands on your body, both during and after pregnancy. As a low-impact form of exercise, Pilates is often preferred during pregnancy and as a whole-body form of exercise it can be very beneficial. We welcome pregnant ladies in our classes however, there may be certain circumstances where we might recommend that a specific ante/post natal class, or a private class, would be more suitable for you. Due to the changing hormones in your body it is important to let your instructor know as soon as you think you might be pregnant, or if you have recently been pregnant, so that you do not overstretch. Currently we offer weekly Post-Pregnany Reformer classes, but we would be happy to add an ante-natal class to the timetable, subject to demand.

A pilates reformer is a specialised piece of exercise equipment, invented by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It is renowned for its versatility, adaptability and transformative benefits. The reformer consists of a sliding carriage, equipped with springs of different resistances, straps and pulleys all set within a sturdy frame. The reformer either adds resistance, to make the exercises more challenging, or it provides assistance, allowing the users to achieve the desired result. The pilates exercises are performed whilst lying, sitting, kneeling or standing on the carriage or to the sides/the ends of the machine.

Mat Pilates classes are usually performed on the floor and the only equipment needed is a mat. They work each part of the body and each exercise has many variations and levels so each participant can progress at their own pace and also means the exercises remain mentally and physically challenging, no matter how long the individual has been practising Pilates.

New To Pilates?

What The Different Class Types Mean

I'm A Beginner, But I'm Strong, Can I Go Straight to Intermediate Classes?

If you've never taken a pilates class before or are returning after a break, we strongly recommend our introductory package. This comprises two private classes (usually one reformer and one mat session, though we are flexible about the format) where we introduce you to the essentials of pilates as well as the equipment. By the end of these sessions you should feel confident to join a group class and your instructor will be able to make recommendations. Occasionally group classes will not be suitable, but your instructor will be able to advise if that is the case. We realise however that there is a cost implication to this so our All Abilities Classes are suitable for beginners and can be booked via the "Book A Class" page, however if you are a pilates newbie, we do ask you to contact us before booking in, just so we can ensure that the class you've selected will be appropriate for you.

The different class types shown on the timetable indicate different specialisms and levels. The types are explained on the "Our Classes" page. If you have never joined a pilates class before, please contact the studio before booking a class.

No! Intermediate/Strong/Advanced to not refer to strength levels, but to understanding of the pilates exercises and principes. When joining one of these classes there is an expectation of experience. It is simply not safe for a beginner to join an intermediate/advanced class, regardless of how strong you are or how much exercise you do. For this reason, any beginner booking into one of these classes will be removed from the class and the class cost refunded to their Gymcatch account.
